Nashville SC’s Hany Mukhtar and Walker Zimmerman named to 2023 MLS Best XI

NASHVILLE, TN – For the third-consecutive season, Nashville SC’s Hany Mukhtar and Walker Zimmerman were named to Major League Soccer’s Best XI, honoring the top performers in the league during the 2023 season. The XI is determined by a panel of media, players, and technical staff from around the league.

Hany Mukhtar makes his third-consecutive appearance in the Best XI (2021, 2022, 2023). With 15 goals and 11 assists, Mukhtar led Nashville SC in goal contributions once again, and finished tied for fifth in the MLS Golden Boot race.

Walker Zimmerman makes his fifth straight appearance in the MLS Best XI (2019*, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023). He’s been included in the team for each of Nashville SC’s seasons in MLS, as well as 2019 with Los Angeles FC. With his inclusion in 2023, he is tied for third all-time in MLS history with five Best XI appearances, behind only Landon Donovan (7) and Dwayne DeRosario (6). Only Landon Donovan has appeared in five consecutive Best XIs; no other player has more than three.

Nashville finished in seventh place in the Western Conference in 2023, and exited the playoffs in Round One with two losses to Orlando City. Their 2024 campaign will kick off in less than three months with their debut in the Concacaf Champions Cup.
