5 cap casualties the Titans can release to create $45 million in cap space

The Tennessee Titans are entering a critical offseason. They're currently going through the process of hiring a new general manager and offensive coordinator. The G.M. hire looms especially large, and whoever is appointed will be tasked with "collaborating" with Titans head coach Mike Vrabel. Controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk has made it clear that the chosen person will be expected to discuss personnel moves with Vrabel.

Part of that collaboration will include navigating through some salary cap-related difficulties. The Titans are currently scheduled to be approximately $24 million above the 2023 salary cap, according to Spotrac's Top 51 Calculator. Vrabel and the next general manager will have to identify opportunities to create cap space.

Those efforts will begin by releasing underperforming and overpaid players. Luckily for the Titans, or unluckily, it's not that difficult to identify those types. Creating financial flexibility is going to be crucial to Tennessee's offseason efforts to upgrade their offensive supporting cast.

We've identified five potential cap casualties. Releasing these five players would create approximately $45 million in cap space.

Taylor Lewan
