Aníbal Godoy called up to Panama national team for World Cup qualifiers

NASHVILLE, TN – Nashville SC midfielder Aníbal Godoy has been called up to the Panamanian national team for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Panama will play their first round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers against Barbados and Dominica on March 25 and 28, respectively.

Godoy currently sits on 99 appearances for Panama, and will have the opportunity to earn his 100th international cap in his next appearance. Godoy started all three of Panama’s matches at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, in additional to playing in two CONCACAF Gold Cup Finals in 2013 and 2015.

Godoy appeared in 21 of Nashville’s 26 matches in 2020, anchoring the midfield alongside Dax McCarty. Behind Godoy, Brian Anunga has emerged as a reliable option with plenty of upside.

Nashville will kick off their 2021 MLS campaign against FC Cincinnati on April 17.
