In a major shock, Adam Schefter reported that star pass rush, Harold Landry, has torn his ACL. The injury happened during Wednesdays practice that was closed to the media.

This is obviously a massive blow to the defense that had high expectations to be a top-5 unit at the very least, and Landry was a big reason for that. In the off-season, Landry’s performances over the last four years was rewarded with a 5 year, $87,500,000 contract.

Landry, a 2nd round draft pick in the 2017 draft, largely was able to command a big pay day because of his durability and versatility as a moving chess piece. Not only was Landry able to rush the passer and put pressure on opposing quarterbacks, he was also an excellent run defender and would often be asked to drop in coverage.

Landry lined up as a defensive back 87 different snaps in his career. The defense will definitely feel his absence has he had also grown into a locker room leader as well.

It won’t be easy filling that void, and it will take multiple players to step up and step in to help ease the loss of one of the best defenders on this team. Obviously the Titans will look to see guys like Ola Adeniyi, Rashad Weaver, and possibly David Anenih step up to fill that void. However, they may be better off to make an addition via free agency or trade.
