We have our first off-season shocker for the Titans.
According to Dianna Russini, the Titans are planning to release Julio Jones.
The team is going to designate the move as a post June 1st cut, a move that’ll save the team just over $9.5M in cap room for this year. The move also puts a $8.4M dead cap charge on the Titans’ bill in 2023.
Also, with the move being designated as a post June 1st release, the Titans’ won’t see the $9.5M in cap relief until after June 1st, which means their cap situation at this point in time remains in peril.
With Julio now gone, the Titans are without a clear selection at WR2. Combine that with the remaining needs the team has, along with their grim cap situation, and it’s relatively easy to conclude that this off-season has turned into one far more important than we initially realized.
