Week 2 is in the books and NFL teams (and more importantly, some of our pickers) rebounded nicely. There were quite a few double digit winners last week, which was a welcome change from the debacle that was Week 1. We will dive into this week’s picks later on, but let’s take a look at some thoughts from the group.
Victory Lap
- First victory goes to Johnathan, Taylor, Greenlaw, James, Easton and Jimmy for not losing faith in the Titans and clearly calling the slow start followed by the epic comeback.
- Justin Melo was the lone person in the Ravens corner picking them over the Chiefs. Picking almost as well as he interviews, well done.
Regrets
- No regrets reported this week. Surprising James….surprising.
Thoughts on this Week
- Wes – “After finding their identity in the 2nd half against the Seahawks, I’m predicting the Titans come out on fire in Nashville against the division rival Colts, who not only have struggled this year defending outside zone run schemes but have a serious QB problem. It won’t matter who is behind center on Sunday, I see a big, lopsided win coming. Titans 38, Colts 16”
- Mike Miracles – “9>5 and since football has taught me that improvement is always linear, I am expecting to get 17 out of 16 games correct by Week 4.”
- Austin Nelson – “I am barely over .500 on the season. This week is where I make my run.”
- Robert Greenlaw – “Houston, after stabbing Tyrod in the lung, will rely on Davis Mills to beat the Panthers. A recipe for disaster? Almost certainly.”
Let’s take a look at how the rest of the picks this week shake out.
The unanimous decisions this week for the group:
- Much like copying and pasting a social media post, the group copied the Cardinals block for every pick over the Jags. This may be an ugly seasons for the declawed Jags.
- Faith has been found again in Honky Tonk land. The Titans had a foot (or ankle) over the Colts in this week’s pick ’em.
The against-the-grain picks this week:
For my sanity, I am going to clarify what constitutes against the grain, until I change my mind. Three contributors or less picking a team will be considered against the grain, at least until I need more to fill in the gaps…
- Zach has a head scratcher thinking that Davis “I played 10ish games in college” Mills is going to defeat the Panthers and that staunch defense.
- Zach squared is joined by Greenlaw taking the Washington Why Haven’t They Named the Team Yets? over the Bills.
- Zach thrice makes the list and is joined by Bill and Jimmy taking Da Bears over the Browns.
- Michael G is hoping the Lions can continue their improved play over the Ravens. Expect some knees and hearts to be broken in this one.
- Jimmy is feeling the electricity that the Chargers are generating by taking them over the Chiefs. The viewers are the winners as this promises to be a high scoring game.
- James is ignoring the recent play of Zach Wilson and his very bad awful day by taking the Jets over the Broncos. Good luck sir… even though you are somehow in first place…
- Jimmy for the hat trick is joined by Johnathan CEO and Wes social media savant taking the Dolphins over the Raaaaaiiiiders.
Coin Flips
- The pickers are split on the Patriots and Saints game, possibly trying to figure out which QB will… figure it out. Patriots with the slim lead 9-8.
- You have to think the play of each teams defense played a role in this split. The Rams take the slight edge 9-8 over the Bucs.
- The Green Bay Packers rebounded quickly and are leading the group to pick them over the confused 49ers 10-7.

James and Taylor repeat with 12 correct guess and maintain their lead over the group. This is a fearsome twosome that someone should start taking seriously, sometime. Greenlaw, Wes and yours truly also finished with 12 wins helping drag us out of the middle of the pack.
Zach. Michael G and Chris all finished in last this week with 8 correct picks. Chris actually improves one spot over last week but he is still tied with AARP Mike H for last place. There is still time but strong starts may leave the bottom of the standing in the dust sooner rather than later.
Tune in next week to see the results, and help us make fun of the losers who get their picks wrong. Let us know whose picks you hate or love in the comments below!
