Broadway NFL Pick’Em: Week 17

We made it. The last week of the NFL season is upon us and the Broadway contributors are almost done picking all of the games this year. The NFL – somehow – is one slate of games away from completing a full regular season, in a pandemic.

Week 17 is always tough to pick due to teams sitting players or only playing them for a short amount of time in the games. It’s hard to know who will play hardest this weekend.

There are a few spots up for grabs in terms of NFL playoff seeding, and there’s also a competition for first and last place in our Broadway pick ’em.

The unanimous decisions this week for the group:

  • The Vikings over the Lions
  • The Saints over the Panthers

Wait, that’s it? Yeah, I believe that is our shortest list of unanimous decisions all year.

The against-the-grain picks this week:

  • James Esparzzzza joining sides with the evil Ben Wright and picking the Texans over the Titans. Boo these men.
  • Justin G hoping to stay out of the bottom rung and taking the 49ers over the Seahawks.
  • Justin G is also taking the Bengals over the Ravens.
  • Jimmy Morris taking the Falcons over the Tompa Bay Bucs.
  • Justin G, Michael G and Kristopher are all taking the #1 picking Jaguars over the fighting-for-a-playoff-spot Colts. Good luck, boys.

We don’t have any official coin flips again this week. The closest games are the Dolphins over the Bills (9-8), Cardinals over the Rams (9-8) and the Eagles over Washington (10-7).

Once again the Law is holding serve over the court of Broadway contributors. He still holds a slim two game lead over Wes entering the last week. There are a total of five games that the two differ on so this is truly anyone’s game.

The other race to watch is for last place again. For the first time since Mike H ran away from Michael G, leaving him all alone at the bottom of the standings, we have a new name in last place… Justin G is a fantastic person (and editor), and would never end up in last place. He probably felt bad for the dregs at the bottom and joined us late in the season. Two games also separate last place from second-to-last, and again there is opportunity for movement with both picking different winners in nine games.

Zach again brings up the rear in correct picks for the week, but he’s joined by the aforementioned Justin G, with both only getting six picks right last week. Zach is also in range for last place, so we’ll have to see who ends up at the bottom. To be fair, I am also in striking distance, so I don’t want to rule anything out.

Tune in next week to see if we continue anything into the playoffs and to crown regular season winners and losers. Let us know whose picks you hate or love in the comments below!
