Broadway NFL Pick’Em: Week 7

Déjà vu (noun) — The feeling that one has already lived through or experienced the present situation… or maybe the NFL just rescheduled some earlier matchups to play this weekend?

Regardless, being an NFL fan this year requires a ton of flexibility. Hopefully, you’re not one of those salty fans calling for forfeits due to cancelled birthday parties or miscommunications during a freaking global pandemic.

Do you wonder if any of our contributors changed their picks from what they would’ve done earlier in the season? I do. But alas, we deleted the earlier picks, so no way to know. Anyway, moving on now to the Week 7 slate.

There may or may not be some outlandish picks going forward, because it’s going to take an against-the-grain approach to catch Josh Hong. He’s having a fantastic year, but he was not the crown jewel among us last week… more on the standings later. For now, let’s take a look at this week’s trends:

Only two decisions are unanimous for Week 7:

  • The Kansas City Chiefs over the Cleveland Odells
  • The Buffalo Bills over the J-E-T-S (I think that stands for “Just Extremely Terribly Stinky”)

We have quite a few odd or interesting picks to go through this week:

  • Josh Hong taking the fighting Minshews over Herbert Patrol
  • Mike Herndon looks to further himself from the bottom by taking the Texans over the Packers
  • Wes Wisley is feeling Giant over the Eagles
  • Justin Graver and I are feeling the Fat Bears over the Rams
  • Zach Lyons joins Bill Ott in taking the sickly Raiders over Tompa Bay

No true coin flips again this week, but we got close with 49ers @ Patriots (10-8, Patriots) / Dallas @ Washington (10-8, Cowboys) / and Lions @ Falcons (11-7, Falcons).

Jimmy Morris needs to be recognized for his efforts in Week 6. With a record of 13-1, he blew the doors off the competition with the next closest competitor only getting 10 picks correct. We have had other contributors pick 13 or 14 right, but this week looked very lopsided compared to rest of the picks.

Contributing to this were many pickers finishing with only 6 or 7 wins, but Zach had his worst week to date with only 5 correct picks. I only got 6 right, but it lessens the sting a bit knowing I was not the worst?

Michael Gilliam thanked Mike Herndon for kicking him in the knee and running away screaming “Oh my god dude are you okay back there seriously thats terrible….” as the bears circle in for the kill (to avoid being the biggest loser, you don’t have to outrun the bears, you just have to outrun Gilliam in NFL picks).

It’s still a tight race at the top, as only three games separate first place from eighth. The rest of us are falling woefully behind. Tune in next week for more Broadway fun and do not be afraid to tell us how dumb/smart our picks are in the comments.

More to come next week!
