Tennessee Titans running back Jonathan Ward is excited to compete for a roster spot this summer. Ward initially joined the Titans in mid December and was active for their Week 18 division-deciding battle with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fans may remember that an incredible individual effort from Ward led to a crucial chain-moving play on third down. Ward returned to the Titans 90-man roster in the offseason.
Ward recently spoke exclusively with Broadway Sports. Ward discussed his early impression of the Titans, his relationship with Derrick Henry and Mike Vrabel, working with coach Tony Dews and Justin Outten, and more. Jim Wyatt recently called Ward "one of the most surprising performers" at OTAs.
JM: You joined the Titans in late December last season. What was your early impression of the team?
Jonathan Ward: I could immediately tell that a strong culture had been established. That’s true from the front office down to the janitorial staff. The entire building works together in sync. We move as one.
Everyone goes about their business. It’s a tight-knit group. It’s a very strong organization. That was my overall impression from the moment I arrived back in December. That was totally different from my previous experiences in the league.
JM: It didn’t take you long to make an impact. You made an incredible play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18. An individual effort . . .
