NASHVILLE, TN – Nashville SC announced Monday that Daniel Ríos has signed a contract extension through the 2022 season, with a club option for 2023. The striker was the first player signed to Nashville’s MLS roster in November 2018.
“Daniel continues to grow as a player here in Nashville, and we are proud to be able to reward him for his efforts,” said Nashville SC General Manager Mike Jacobs in a club statement.
Ríos played just under 1,000 minutes for Nashville in their inaugural campaign, including an extra time winner over Toronto FC in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. His five goals tied for the team lead.
After signing the first MLS contract in Nashville SC history, Ríos played with Nashville in the USL Championship, where he scored 21 goals in 2019. He became the first player in USL Championship history to score 20 goals in consecutive seasons.
Ríos came through the Club Deportivo Guadalajara academy, and has represented Mexico at the youth international level.
Nashville SC kicks off their 2021 MLS campaign on April 17 against FC Cincinnati.
