NASHVILLE, TN – Nashville SC midfielder Hany Mukhtar was named MLS’s Player of the Month for August. With seven goals and five assists, Mukhtar was just the fourth player in league history to notch 12 goal contributions in a single month.
Mukhtar leads MLS in both goals (21) and goal contributions (32). He became just the fifth player in league history to record at least 20 goals and 10 assists in a single year, along with LAFC’s Carlos Vela (2019), LA Galaxy’s Zlatan Ibrahimović (2018), Portland Timbers’ Diego Valeri (2017), and Toronto FC’s Sebastian Giovinco (2015).
Mukhtar is the first Nashville SC player to earn a Player of the Month nod, and the first German player in league history to win the award.
After a hat trick over Colorado Rapids and a brace over Austin FC, Mukhtar has firmly staked his claim for the 2022 Landon Donovan MLS MVP award, the most prestigious individual award in the league. Mukhtar finished second in 2021 MVP voting to New England Revolution maestro Carles Gil, and has followed up his stellar 2021 campaign with an even better 2022.
