Huntsville City FC sign goalkeeper Simon Jillson

Huntsville City FC have added to their squad depth ahead of the 2024 season, signing goalkeeper Simon Jillson. From the press release:

“We are thrilled to add another talented player to the Huntsville City FC squad for 2024,” said Matt Cairns, Huntsville City FC Director of Soccer Operations. “Simon is a proven professional goalkeeper in MLS NEXT Pro. Coming off a successful season with LA Galaxy II, we are confident his calmness and composure in goal will be a great addition to the club.”

Jillson joins Huntsville after spending last season in MLS NEXT Pro’s Western Conference with LA Galaxy II. The goalkeeper made 21 starts with Galaxy II in 2023, playing the fourth-most minutes of any keeper. He was second in the league with 85 saves and kept three clean sheets. Jillson also spent time last season with parent club LA Galaxy on a short-term loan. Jillson will be available to play in the club’s season opening match on Saturday, March 16 against Chattanooga FC at 2 p.m. CT.
