If this is it for Derrick Henry and the Titans, it’s been a pleasure

By now, you're aware that Derrick Henry could be playing his final game for the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Scheduled to reach unrestricted free agency this Spring, Henry, who celebrated his 30th birthday on Thursday, is dealing with a murky future for the first time since establishing his dominance in 2018. It's actually possible to envision Henry playing elsewhere next season.

Henry admitted as much when speaking with the media earlier this week, even while doing his best to downplay the occasion.

"I'm treating it as any other game," Henry said. "I try not to get too caught up or too overwhelmed. I'm going to enjoy the moment and focus on finishing the season strong. It's definitely going to be a moment. I'm a free agent at the end of the season. I've been here for eight years. I'll be grateful to the fans for coming out," Henry concluded.

It's unfortunate that Sunday doesn't mean more for team-based success. The woeful 5-11 Titans are simply playing for pride, draft positioning, and an opportunity to prevent their arch rival Jacksonville Jaguars from qualifying for the postseason. But one may argue that Sunday's game could carry more importance than what Jacksonville is playing for, the right to be one-and-done in the postseason.
