Jaguars first-round RB Travis Etienne injures foot in preseason game, out indefinitely

Jaguars rookie RB Travis Etienne is out indefinitely due to a mid-foot sprain, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Etienne sustained the sprain in the Jaguars preseason week 2 game Monday night against the Saints. Seen limping on the sidelines in a boot after the game, he’s set to undergo further testing this week.

The promising back was drafted by the Jaguars with their second 1st-round selection in the 2021 NFL draft out of Clemson. The selection came just after Jacksonville had used the first overall pick on Etienne’s college quarterback, Trevor Lawrence.

Etienne was set to split snaps with RB James Robinson, whose breakout rookie season in 2020 saw him go from being undrafted to rushing for over a thousand yards.

After Monday night, it’s suddenly unknown how much Etienne will see the field at all in 2021.
