Jaguars release TE Tim Tebow

The Jacksonville Jaguars released Tim Tebow Tuesday morning.

Head coach Urban Meyer brought his former college QB in to try to make the transition to tight end early in the offseason. A hot topic in NFL circles, many were divided on if Tebow could find success at the position.

Others wondered if coach Meyer should have given him an opportunity at all.

Tebow had a rough first showing Saturday evening in the Jaguars preseason opener agains the Browns. A clip of a less-than-stellar block by Tebow in the game went viral.

Tim Tebow is just the first big name in a long list of roster-hopefuls that will be cut today. All teams must shave their roster down to 85 by 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
