“Having suffered the heartache of the Orlando Tournament, it’s wonderful to be preparing for our first game in five months,” said Nashville Head Coach Gary Smith in the club’s release. “The players and staff are excited to be competing again and we would all like nothing more than to get into a rhythm of games to promote the team development we have all missed.”
Nashville’s last match was March 8, a 1-0 road loss to the Portland Timbers. The Boys in Gold were scheduled to participate in the MLS is Back Tournament starting in early July, but were forced to withdraw due to a cluster of Covid-19 cases within the team.
Nashville will return to Nissan Stadium for the first time since February 29 against Inter Miami CF on August 30. While the last match was played in front of 59,000 fans, the next match will look different. From the club’s press release: “In partnership with MLS and local health authorities, Nashville SC will continue to monitor and evaluate the status of COVID-19 in relation to fans attending matches during this phase and will share more information in the upcoming weeks.”
All matches will be locally broadcast on MyTV30, with the exception of their trip to Inter Miami, set to feature on FS1 on September 6. Wednesday’s match will be the debut of Nashville’s broadcast team, with Tony Husband providing play-by-play, Jamie Watson as the color analyst, and Lori Lindsey on the sidelines.
MLS announced the schedule for all other clubs through September 12, as well as confirming MLS Cup Playoffs will begin on November 20 and feature 18 MLS clubs. MLS Cup will be played on December 12. MLS will announce the remainder of the regular season schedule in early September.
