Nashville SC can clinch playoff spot this weekend

Nashville SC travel to Philadelphia this weekend for a critical match against the Union, knowing that three points could be enough to officially secure a spot in the playoffs. Nashville would lock up a spot in the postseason with a win against Philadelphia and one of the following:

• A CF Montréal loss at Toronto FC
• A New York Red Bulls loss or draw at Columbus Crew
• A New York City FC loss or draw against DC United

Nashville became just the sixth expansion team to qualify for the playoffs in their first year last season, advancing to the Eastern Conference semifinals before losing to eventual champions Columbus Crew in extra time. Qualification in 2021 would make Nashville just the sixth team in league history to qualify for the postseason in their first two years.

Nashville are currently in second place in the Eastern Conference, three points ahead of Philadelphia Union.
