Nashville SC officially clinch playoff spot

Nashville SC have officially clinched a spot in the 2022 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.

With Portland Timbers’ loss to Los Angeles FC on Sunday afternoon, the ‘Yotes officially book their postseason ticket.

Since entering the league as an expansion side in 2020, Nashville have qualified for the playoffs every season. The fourth side in the expansion era to qualify for the postseason in their first two seasons in the league, Nashville weathered a switch to the Western Conference, qualifying for the playoffs after an eight-match road trip to start the season.

With other results around the league falling Nashville’s way, the Boys In Gold can move into third place in the Western Conference with a win tonight against 14th-placed Houston Dynamo. They’ll travel to face LAFC on Decision Day, who officially win the Supporters’ Shield with a 2-1 win in Portland.
