NASHVILLE, TN – Joey Skinner (Clemson – FB) became the latest member of the Boys in Gold after Nashville SC selected the Clemson Tiger and Charlotte native with the 11th overall pick in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft.
Skinner is a Generation Adidas signee. Accordingly, Skinner will occupy a slot on Nashville’s Supplemental Roster and not count against the salary cap for up to three seasons. He will replace Jack Maher’s slot on the roster as Maher has now graduated from the Generation Adidas program.
Skinner is primarily a left-back by trade. Nashville has Daniel Lovitz and Taylor Washington currently occupying that position.
As with most selections in the SuperDraft, Skinner will likely not be asked to make an immediate impact in Nashville. Even if we do not see Skinner on the field often in GEODIS Park, Skinner will likely pick up significant minutes with the reserve side, Huntsville City FC.
We’ll have more analysis of all of Nashville’s picks after the conclusion of the SuperDraft.
