Nashville SC sign left-back Nick Hinds

NASHVILLE, TN – Nashville SC added another member to their already elite defense on Monday, announcing the signing of left-back Nick Hinds.

Hinds, 23, came through the Seattle Sounders academy, signing his first professional contract in 2018 after two seasons with Acron in the NCAA. Hinds made 68 appearances for Tacoma Defiance, Seattle’s affiliate in the USL Championship.

As part of the signing, Nashville have acquired Hinds’s Homegrown rights from Seattle for $50,000 in General Allocation Money. Seattle will receive a percentage of any future transfer fee for Hinds.

“Nick is a talented young player who has been a real standout at the youth, collegiate, and USL Championship levels,” said Nashville SC General Manager Mike Jacobs. “He brings outstanding experiences from US youth national teams and a successful youth academy in Seattle. His pace and ability to join into the attack makes him someone who could become a successful left-sided player at this level.”

Hinds is the latest in a slew of players signed from the USL Championship. He joins Robert Castellanos as the second player signed from USL this offseason, joining Daniel Ríos, Brian Anunga, Matt LaGrassa and Taylor Washington on Nashville’s MLS roster.

Hinds has been a solid two-way fullback at the USL level. In 2019, he lead Tacoma Defiance with four assists, creating 17 chances in 27 appearances.

Hinds joins a left-back group that features Dan Lovitz as the clear first choice, with Taylor Washington and SuperDraft pick Tom Judge in contention.
