Nashville SC to host Atlanta United in US Open Cup Fourth Round

Nashville SC will host Atlanta United in the US Open Cup Round of 32. Drawn together in the South region of the competition, Nashville automatically enter the competition in the Fourth Round by virtue of their top four finish in MLS’s Eastern Conference last season.

With the Covid-19 pandemic halting the Open Cup in both 2020 and 2021, this will be Nashville’s first foray into America’s oldest cup competition since the 2019 season. As a USL side, Nashville’s farthest run came in 2018, where the first-year side lost to Louisville City in the Round of 16. In 2019, Nashville were eliminated in penalty kicks by Charleston Battery in the Third Round.

Nashville have gone 2-2-2 all time against Atlanta United in MLS, outscoring their rival 11 to 10. Their last meeting was a 2-0 win for the ‘Yotes at Mercedez Benz Arena.

Nashville’s Open Cup match against Atlanta is set for Wednesday, May 11 with a 7 pm CT kickoff time. The midweek meeting will be bookended by a home match against Real Salt Lake on May 8 and a road trip to Houston Dynamo on May 14.
