The standings are determined by total points in head-to-head matches between the four teams. Since Nashville were in the Western Conference in 2022, the winner was determined by total points in MLS that season.

The Belt is handed to the winning supporters at the Independent Supporters Council before the start of the season, with the winners holding it for the next MLS season.
