Nashville’s Aníbal Godoy added to Panama World Cup qualifying roster

Nashville SC midfielder Aníbal Godoy has been added to Panama’s roster for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Anguilla and the Dominican Republic.

Godoy, 31, has been capped 100 times by Los Canaleros, and has been a core part of the squad for the last decade, starting all three of their matches in the 2018 World Cup. He’s started all seven of Nashville SC’s matches in 2021, playing 95% of available minutes to date.

Panama currently are tied with the Dominican Republic with six points in Group D. The winner of the group will advance to Round 2 of Concacaf qualifying.

Godoy is the fourth member of Nashville SC to be called up during this international break. Randall Leal will represent Costa Rica in the Nations League final four, Alistair Johnston is part of Canada’s squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers, and Jhonder Cádiz was announced on Venezuela’s roster earlier today.
