Recap: Nashville SC 1-2 Toronto FC (Preseason)

Nashville SC closed out the first leg of their preseason camp with a 2-1 friendly loss to Toronto, a match that saw Hany Mukhtar play his first minutes of 2024.

The match was split into four 30-minute quarters, with Gary Smith saying after the match that tired legs from a heavy preseason load caught up to the Coyotes in the Florida heat.

Federico Bernardeschi struck first in the opening quarter, bending a ball past Joe Willis to the bottom corner.

Lorenzo Insigne doubled the lead, collecting a pass from DeAndre Kerr at the top of the box before curling it past a stranded Joe Willis.

Hany Mukhtar came on as a substitute, the first preseason action for Nashville’s creative force. The no. 10 made an immediate impact, setting up Forster Ajago to pull a goal back.

The Coyotes head back to Nashville to conclude their preseason, playing a pair of friendly matches at Geodis Park before traveling to the Dominican Republic to take on Moca FC in the Concacaf Champions Cup. Their preseason match on February 7 is open to season ticket members.
