Nashville SC will make another defensive addition to their squad, according to MLS Multiplex‘s Kristian Dyer. Dyer reports that Nashville will trade for defender Dylan Nealis from Inter Miami CF, sending an unconfirmed amount of allocation money the other way.
Inter Miami manager Phil Neville all but confirmed the move on a call with season ticket holders on Friday evening.
Nealis, 22, was selected third overall by Miami in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft, just one spot behind Nashville’s Jack Maher. Capable of playing as a right-back or right midfielder, Nealis made 20 appearances for Miami in 2020, including starting in Miami’s 3-0 playoff loss to Nashville at Nissan Stadium.
Nashville currently have Alistair Johnston as the starting right-back. Johnston 21, made his international debut for Canada in the most recent World Cup qualifying window. He appeared in 21 matches for Nashville last season, including all three of their playoff contests. Behind Johnston, Nashville re-signed Eric Miller, who started the first two matches of the 2020 season. They also selected Irakoze Donasiyano with the 20th pick of the 2021 SuperDraft, who can play either in midfield or at either fullback spot.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
