Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame names Hany Mukhtar Professional Player of the Year

NASHVILLE, TN – The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame announced that Nashville SC forward Hany Mukhtar has been named the Tennessee Professional Player of the Year on Friday.

Mukhtar won the MLS Golden Boot last season as the league’s top scorer with 23 goals, and was named 2022 Landon Donovan MLS MVP. Notably, Mukhtar is the first Tennessee professional athlete to win an MVP award in a major sport outright, and the first since Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair shared the 2003 NFL MVP award with Peyton Manning.

Mukhtar will be presented with the award at the Tennessee Hall of Fame banquet on July 22 at the Omni Nashville Downtown. More information on this year’s honorees can be found here.
