It's not often that a team plays the same opponent in back-to-back matches. Nashville SC had that chance last week, playing against FC Dallas on Wednesday and then against Sunday (and into Monday).
Nashville won the first match 1-0 while the second ended in a draw, an ironic twist given that the visitors were dominant in the second match without finding a winner.
Nashville struggled to create consistent chances on Wednesday (left), especially inside the box. They managed just two shots from inside the 18 in the first match, and it's not a coincidence that Dallas used a defense-heavy 3-5-2 that night.
On Sunday (right), Nashville took eight shots from inside the area, more than their total on Wednesday. Why the sudden jump in production? I think there are a couple reasons.
