Tennessee Titans cornerback Tre Avery wrote a heartwarming story throughout the 2022 campaign. Not only did the undrafted free agent out Rutgers defy the odds by making the 53-man roster, but Avery developed into a legitimate contributor. Avery played 290 effective snaps for a secondary that was ravaged by injury and inconsistent play.
Avery recently spoke exclusively with Broadway Sports. We reflected on his rookie campaign, his success in coverage, goals for his sophomore season, and more. Avery should be a mainstay on the Titans roster moving forward.
JM: It was quite the rookie season for Tre Avery. You made the roster as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers. Your son was born that same week. Have you had time to reflect on what a blessed year 2022 was for you?
Tre Avery: I have. I reflect on the year from time to time. I smile every time I look into my son’s eyes. Fatherhood has been such a great experience for me. I spend every moment I can with him. The Titans gave me an opportunity to support my family.
I’m doing what I love. It’s a huge blessing for me. My life could have gone in a different direction. I’m extremely thankful for the opportunity to play football. I’m very appreciative of all the blessings that have come my way.
