It was a simple slant route, the kind that Titans wide receiver Corey Davis usually eats for breakfast.
But instead of charging upfield with the perfectly placed Ryan Tannehill pass, Davis watched the football skip off the NRG Stadium turf instead. It was a drop. Another one, Davis' third of the game against Houston last week, a crazy figure considering he'd only dropped one pass in his 13 previous games combined this season.
What was going on?
“He's struggling right now,” CBS Sports analyst Rich Gannon said during the broadcast. “It's in his head.”
It turns out there was much more than just football going through Davis' head last Sunday, which was likely part of the issue.
