Head coach Mike Vrabel announced he has tested positive for Covid-19 in his Sunday afternoon press conference. The announcement comes just hours after he led Tennessee to a 34-3 preseason victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Vrabel said he will get re-tested tomorrow, but for now, is in quarantine following protocols. He said he is confident in the coaching staff and notes they’d dealt with this last year. Vrabel said he’s confident that they’ll figure this out and make good decisions.
It’s not known at this point who, if anyone, will be put into quarantine as a result of the head coach’s positive test. Coach Vrabel was in contact with many on the team all week in Tampa, standing on the sideline Saturday night as he typically does.
Asked about the timeline for his return, Vrabel said his understanding is that he can get back to work in person once he gets two consecutive negative tests.
The Titans host the Chicago Bears this Saturday in Nashville.
