Titans News: Branching out

The Titans were linked with two coordinators yesterday. One on the defensive side of the ball and one on the offensive. Teryl Austin, the senior defensive assistant/secondary coach for the Steelers was interviewed by the Titans for their DC position.

Tony Elliott, the Clemson offensive coordinator was reportedly approached by the Titans to fill the potentially vacant OC job. I think Elliott would have been a home run hire for the Titans, and it’s refreshing to see the team continue to try and improve despite success on the offensive side of the ball.

Elsewhere in the division, the Jacksonville Jaguars have hired former Florida and Ohio State coach, Urban Meyer. Meyer has proven to be a great college coach before he flames out at each stop. It’ll be interesting to see how he does at the pro level.

Up North, the Jets have hired Robert Saleh as their new head coach. I think this is a very solid hire for New York. Saleh comes off as very Vrabel-esque as his players seem to love him and by all accounts is a smart coach.

Derrick Henry is a finalist for the FedEx Ground Player of the Year. He should be a shoe-in for the award.

On Thursday, the Titans signed two more players to futures contracts.

Brandon Galloway, a Titans fan, is up for the NFL Fan of the Year award. Hopefully Brandon can win it, as he has been an excellent role model for the youth in the community.
