Mike Vrabel clarified something he said a week ago about Jamarco Jones. He said that Jones will be competing at LG and maybe RT, not promised the starting LG job off the bat.
Jon Robinson said they are happy with Logan Woodside as backup to Tannehill and he sees some similarities between the two. That being said, he didn’t completely shut down that they would look to improve the backup spot.
Pretty soon the Titans will need to lock up A.J. Brown and Jeffery Simmons to long-term deals. Brown is the first candidate to get extended given that he is eligible to be a free agent sooner. The good news is that the salary cap is expected to explode soon, meaning that you can give them fair deals to them without hampering your team in the long haul.
Mr. Schrager, delete this mock.
While we’ve known this to be the case, Mike Vrabel said that as long as he’s the head coach of the Titans, A.J. Brown is not on the trading block.
Steve Wilks and Ray Horton have joined Brian Flores in the lawsuit against the NFL. Horton alleges that his interview with the Titans was a sham and that the job had already been promised to Mike Mularkey. He is correct about that, however I don’t think it has anything to do with racism as much as the Titans having their guy already and having to check boxes to finalize that hire. There are major issues with the Rooney rule as it currently stands. There need to be more diverse head coaches in the league and the men and women that are qualified for the 32 jobs in the NFL need to have a fair shot at them.
All that said, the Titans have never had a legitimate coaching search. In each search, they had their prime target and everyone else was just in the way of hiring them. Hopefully the NFL can fix the hiring process and hopefully the Titans don’t have to hire a new head coach anytime soon.
