This offseason, the Titans lost Arthur Smith to the Falcons. Todd Downing, the former TE coach was promoted to offensive coordinator. Many thought the transition would be a hard one, but through five games, it’s been pretty good. Despite missing Julio Jones for two games, and A.J. Brown for a game and the offensive line turning into a row of turnstiles, the Titans are 9th in the league in points per game. Downing has done a pretty good job so far and when he has the full collection of weapons available, I’d imagine the offense improves even more.
During his Monday press conference, Mike Vrabel applauded the work of Jeffery Simmons. He said that even if his impact doesn’t show up in the box score, the pressures he creates are extremely valuable. Jeff has been a menace all season long, and Sunday was one of the best performances of the season. The group of Autry, Simmons, Landry, and Tart has been fun.
Only a few years into his 10 year deal, Jon Gruden is out as the head coach of the Raiders. A ton of inflammatory emails came out this weekend from his time at ESPN, and he and Mark Davis decided it would be best for him to step down. Rich Bisaccia, who interviewed for the Titans’ job back in 2014 will be the interim coach.
