Ever heard the phrase, “putting lipstick on a pig”? That’s exactly what Kevin Byard did on Wednesday when he talked up the promotion of Shane Bowen to defensive coordinator. The fact that the Titans even had to put up an article where one of the defensive players is expressing confidence in the hire is pretty sad.

Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com wonders how AFC teams can take the Chiefs’ spot in the Super Bowl next year. When attempting to fix the Titans, he says they need more talent on defense. Hard to argue, but they need to become more multi-dimensional on offense as well.

It was not very surprising to me, but Mike Vrabel did not land on the list of the most aggressive head coaches in the league. Analytics seems like a blindspot for Vrabel, and I think it is something he needs to learn to embrace.

On the agenda this week is talks about the salary cap for this upcoming season. That will have a pretty big impact on what the Titans are able to do this offseason in terms of adding offensive and defensive playmakers.

Warren Moon says that the Titans are set up for the long haul on offense. The foundation is certainly there. They need to supplement.
