Titans News: Nip/Tuck

On Tuesday, the Titans needed to get the roster down from 90 to 85. To do so, they cut Josh Malone, Jordan Wilkins, Deante Burton, Haskell Garrett and Carson Green. Malone is the lone surprise as he had drawn great reviews early in camp and was competing for the WR6 job.

No one loves former Texans players quite like Tennessee. They added Lonnie Johnson off of waivers, to add to the secondary. They must not like their safety depth as they traded for Tyrese Gillespie as well.

Malik Willis really struggled on Tuesday, and he’ll need to have days where he’s much better than ~33% completion percentage if he wants to win the QB2 job. All accounts have been that he’s very eager to learn and has been very coachable, so he’s definitely got the right mindset.

Next up for the Titans is the joint practices with the Buccaneers. No Mike Evans or Tom Brady, but the Tampa defense should give the Titan offense (all strings) a good test.

NFL.com says that Roger McCreary is the pivotal rookie for the Titans’ 2022 season. I could not disagree more. It’s Treylon Burks. They don’t need McCreary to be good to have a good defense. They very likely need Burks to be good to have a good offense.
