Titans should defeat Texans with or without Ryan Tannehill

All eyes are on the availability of Tennessee Titans starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill ahead of Sunday's divisional showdown with the Houston Texans. Tannehill didn't practice on Wednesday or Friday and was more of a spectator on Thursday, shouting instructions and offering direction. Tannehill was officially listed as questionable on Friday's injury report. Tannehill's status for Sunday may not be revealed until the Titans deliver their inactive list, or possibly later.

Tannehill suffered an ankle injury in last Sunday's victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Tannehill returned to the contest after a short break on the sideline, but was clearly hampered and limited by his lower-leg ailment. It's been self-described as an ankle sprain. Tannehill was in a walking boot following that victory, but has since shed that structure.

A healthy Tannehill would be preferred, but the Titans should defeat the Texans with or without him under center. Should rookie quarterback Malik Willis be forced to make his first career start, offensive coordinator Todd Downing will likely craft a game plan that takes advantage of Willis' athletic ability without asking him to make difficult reads or decisions. Furthermore, the Texans should prepare for a heavy dose of Derrick Henry. And that too is with or without Tannehill.

Henry has torched these Texans to a historical tune lately. Henry has totaled 673 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in his latest three showings against Houston. That's an average . . .
