The Titans have potentially found their Ryan Tannehill successor.
Tennessee traded up to select Liberty quarterback Malik Willis, signaling the transition to a new era of Titans football.
The name of the game with Willis is how long will it take for him to get on the field. The explosive athlete has very good looking traits you normally don’t see at the quarterback position. But because he played in such a simple offense at Liberty that doesn’t run many NFL concepts, questions arose about Willis’ ability to adjust to traditional pro level offenses.
The good thing for Willis is that he’s going to sit behind Ryan Tannehill. This’ll give him plenty of time to not only learn the Titans’ offense, but slowly adjust to the professional concepts NFL offenses like to run.
This is the best quarterback prospect the Titans’ could’ve gotten, and they got him in the third round.
That’s good — and maybe lucky — drafting by the Titans.
Scout’s Take
Our own James Foster (A.K.A. NoFlagsFilm) has worked extremely hard to scout this year’s eligible draft prospects. His opinion is very valuable and will be used to gauge feeling on Titans related draft selections this weekend.
