The Tennessee Titans signed several undrafted free agents at the conclusion of the 2023 NFL Draft. Former Eastern Kentucky linebacker/safety Matthew Jackson is one of those players. Jackson led the Colonels in tackles with 87 takedowns in 2022. Jackson also recorded 7.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks.
Jackson recently spoke exclusively with Broadway Sports. Jackson discussed how he formed a relationship with the Titans throughout the pre-draft process, what position he’ll actually be playing at the next level, what his goals and aspirations are ahead of training camp, and so much more. Jackson is an intriguing hybrid defender.
JM: You recorded 199 tackles across the previous two campaigns. You also added 18.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, 12 pass breakups and two interceptions across that same time frame. How do you look back on your final two seasons of college football?
Matthew Jackson: It was a true testament to the coaching staff and teammates I had around me. They put their faith in me. I was able to string together a career at Eastern Kentucky that some people can only dream of enjoying. I worked hard every single year to showcase the necessary improvement. All of that work paid off.
