Hany Mukhtar named MLS Player of the Week for second-consecutive week

NASHVILLE, TN – Nashville SC attacker Hany Mukhtar was named MLS Player of the Week after his performance in a 3-0 win over Austin FC. In the same day as he was named August Player of the Month, the German also took home his second straight player of the week nod.

Additionally, Mukhtar and defender Walker Zimmerman were named to the MLS Team of the Week. Zimmerman scored Nashville’s opener against Austin with a powerful header to bury a Dan Lovitz corner kick. It was his third goal of the 2022 season.

Zimmerman opened the scoring with a powerful header to bury a corner kick just after halftime. Mukhtar added a brace to lead the ‘Yotes to an emphatic win over a very good Austin side. Nashville are up to fourth in the Western Conference table.

It’s Mukhtar’s eighth selection of 2022, and Zimmerman’s third. Both Designated Players, the pair have been crucial to Nashville’s improved form since the start of August.
