USMNT drawn in World Cup Group B with England

The 2022 FIFA World Cup draw is set, and the US Men’s National Team will face a familiar foe in England. Both drawn into Group B, the two sides will face off on November 25 in a matchup of their 2010 group stage match.

Also drawn into Group B are Iran, the top side in qualifiers out of Asia, and the winners of the European playoff. Wales has qualified for the playoff final already, and will face the winners of Scotland and Ukraine later in June.

The USMNT will kick off their 2022 World Cup campaign on November 21 against the winner of the European playoffs. They’ll then take on England in a marquee Black Friday matchup before finishing the group on November 29 against Iran.

Canada, who finished at the top of Concacaf qualifying, land in Group F. They’ll play Belgium, Morocco and Croatia. Mexico, the only other confirmed Concacaf participant, were drawn in Group C, along with Argentina, Saudi Arabia and Poland.

Concacaf could have a fourth participant. Costa Rica will play New Zealand in a playoff, with the winner set to join a Group E that’s shaping up to be the “group of death”. Spain, Germany and Japan all away the winner of the playoff.

The World Cup will kick off on November 21.
