Update: Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry named FedEx Players of the Week

OCT. 22 Update: Thanks almost certainly to your votes, Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill and running back Derrick Henry have won their respective FedEx Player of the Week awards for their incredible showings last Sunday.

As you can read in the above tweet, FedEx is providing emergency medical backpacks to care for 500 people in Nashville as support for the winning organization’s local community.

Congratulations to the Titans co-MVPs for bringing this relief effort to the city, and congratulations to you all the voters for making this happen!

Original story: After becoming the first team in NFL history to have a player throw for 350+ yards while another player rushes for 200+ yards, the Titans now see both players in the running for their respective FedEx Players of the Week Award. Did Arthur Smith pull some strings with Dad? No, he’s just a brilliant offensive coordinator.

Of course both players had stellar performances, and Ryan Tannehill’s day wasn’t all just off of play action from the threat of Derrick Henry:

Overall, Tannehill finished 30 of 41 passing (73.2%) for 364 yards and four touchdowns for a quarterback rating of 122.4 — and his fourth game-winning drive of the season with the overtime touchdown by Henry (and yes, he threw an interception, it happens).

Tannehill is up against Matt Ryan and Philip Rivers. He’s currently leading, but you never know how the results could turn out. Please do your part and vote in the poll (and also the election thank you).

Meanwhile, King Henry became the first player in NFL history to run for 200+ yards in three consecutive seasons with his 212-yard 2-touchdown performance on 22 carries, with an additional 52 receiving yards on 2 catches.

Henry is at the moment absolutely stiff-arming the competition in this poll, but you should still smash that vote button for the King as a symbol of your allegiance to his rule.

When it comes to this Titans offense, I think Gentry Estes said it best:

Who is your Titans MVP, Henry or Tannehill? Let us know in the comments!

  1. I haven’t felt this thrilled about our QB/RB combo since McNair and Eddie. Vince and CJ2K were great, but I knew in the back of my mind that Vince wouldn’t last.
